While sifting through the vast quality of articles, newsletters and reports in my Braintenance Inbox, I came across  an interesting "News Release" written and distributed by PsychTests that truly resonated with me. It's about why some of us survive and actually thrive under the trials of adversity, while others crumble and become embittered to the point of immobility. Please read on... Dreams And Dreaming: Fascinating Facts - Braintenance

Image
We tend to dream in metaphors about things in our lives which are unsettled and frustrating. This is quite the opposite of what we tend to say about dreams , which tends to be positive in the sense of "you're in my dreams," "I can dream about it if I can't have it," or "I was just daydreaming." In fact, the dreams we tend to remember as adults are very often the ones which are closest to nightmares. The more plagued we are with the stressful components of our lives and either our point of view or our actual environment (the two are never quite the same), the more we dream, and the greater the percentage of our dreams which are perceived as nightmares. In curious contrast, when our conscious minds are at rest after struggling at a perplexing problem for some time, our subconscious, operating through metaphor and unbridled free association, continues to work on these problems in our dreaming states and occasionally solves them. Much of our " Br...

Meditation: Program Yourself For Success

Self-hypnosis, NLP , future visualization, subliminal suggestion and the notion of The Law Of Attraction may or may not be part of your belief system. I know that many of our readers of The Braintenance Blog are quite skeptical about anything that they cannot examine fully with their conscious senses -- even then they tend to be doubtful. There is nothing wrong with belief systems , unless they inhibit your self-growth, professional development , achievement of your objectives or your happiness. In such cases, subtle re-programming can and does work wonders. The secret lies in the ability to open your mind, suspend conditioned disbelief, and simply enjoy the experience. While great expectations are wonderful, they can set you up for disappointment. My preferred approach is to 'let the experience take me wherever it will,' and to just permit myself to let whatever happens happen. The best expectation orientation is to just enjoy the experience...to just let it enter you. After ...

Mind Is Master Over Your Body: And Your Future!

Image
The mind is master over the body. If you fully understand this, and if you apply this and put it to meaningful use, then you can accomplish anything. You can control your body weight , musculature, wakefulness, creativity, energy, drives and the course to your achievement of any goal. The rule is this: If you can envision any future goal (with full, multi-sensorial, exacting detail -- as if you were living in it and fully immersed in it -- a sort of " time machine " virtual reality ) in the present, and continue to perceive that goal to point of obsession, and ultimately to the full embodiment of acceptance, your mind will direct your body to make the choices and to take the steps necessary to the attainment of your goals. Most of this voodoo takes place through the action of the subconscious and the super conscious , with the lagging participation of the conscious mind in a third place position. This has practical applications in every aspect of health, life and your busin...

Ignite Creativity - Do Something Boring! [Or Even Take A Nap]

Beware: Creative Brainlock! Perplexed by a problem? Is the solution eluding you? Are you running out of ideas and just "sick and tired" of thinking so hard that your head hurts? This is a very common dilemma for people of average to above average intelligence when they cannot immediately 'sense' or 'see' the solution to a perplexing problem. When they focus too long, the problem seems to become more difficult, and all creative thought regarding a solution seems to retreat further and further away. My Braintenance readers have all suffered from this annoying phenomenon at one time or another. As Human Beings , it is our nature to reach for the solution to any problem through an immediate association with a comparable past situation. If our ability to recall such an association does not connect fairly immediately, we quickly become frustrated, and this frustration, itself, starts to shut down our informational access (i.e., the databanks become less accessibl...
